Washington, D.C., September 15, 2008 – American Pool Enterprises, Inc. of Baltimore, MD and their subsidiary company Specialty Pool & Fountain, Inc of Silver Spring, Maryland were major contributors to the success of the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial. Contracted to complete key phases of the construction of the memorial, the company experienced success in seeing the nation’s positive response to the project.

American Pool Enterprises, Inc. employees were invited to the dedication ceremony held at the site on September 11, 2008.  There, the employees were able to experience the satisfaction of being part of such a significant project and to be so closely involved in honoring the 184 men, women and children who lost their lives there on the same date in 2001.

Specialty Pool & Fountain, Inc. had an important hand in the completion of the memorial site. Their work in the field included running of all the interconnecting plumbing to each of the184 memorial units, provision and installation of the stainless strainers and frames at the back of the unit and balancing valves for each.  In the Equipment Control Center, SPF provided all of the pumping stations, filtration systems and electrical control panels that make this system fully automated for pumping, filtration and chemical treatment.

Specialty Pool & Fountain specializes in the construction, maintenance and repairs of commercial and residential water fountains and features. Their award-winning work has been recognized a number of times including the American Society of Landscape Architects Grand National Award for the natural water feature at the Korean Ambassador’s residence in Washington, D.C.  SPF has also completed the Otter Exhibit at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C and will soon begin working on the Elephant habitat.
