Also Known As: Pool Cover, Safety Cover, Winter Cover
In addition, covers keep foreign materials from entering an unused pool. This is particularly important during the off-season.
There are many types of pool covers that are used for many different reasons. Mesh covers are typically less expensive, lighter and more durable than vinyl covers. However, unlike solid covers, rain water can get through the cover. Some mesh covers also provide surface filtration and 100% shade from the sun, while covering your pool. Because they are solid, vinyl covers also keeps debris out of the pool, but they must have an automatic pump or mesh drain panels to remove any standing water that accumulates.
Automatic pool covers are particularly useful in residential settings and/or when the pool cover is removed and replaced often. Automatic covers require special installation but can be put in place or removed at the touch of a button. These types of covers are not as common in a commercial setting.
It is important to note that not all pool covers offer the same level of safety. Safety pool covers are specifically designed as a barrier to people and animals entering the water. Other pool covers provide other benefits, but may not protect your facility from accidents in the off season.
