The NSPF Certified Pool Operator Instructor Course
Training is a big part of managing swimming pools to the highest standards, and we make no exceptions with our staff. While state required training is a prerequisite for all operations, our company continues to invest in training and certifications to ensure our people are better equipped and prepared than our competition.
Last month eight of our current full-time staff members who are Certified Pool Operators (CPO’s) took the National Swimming Pool Foundation’s (NSPF) CPO Instructor course at Cumberland Community College. The three day intensive in person course was just the final leg of training cohort that began just after Labor Day of 2017. Each of our employees who attended the program had to have obtained and kept a CPO certification and possess a resumé of significant field experience to qualify to take the class. The program began with 30-40 hours worth of preparation before the in person December sessions. Participants from our New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland operations arrived for the in person sessions.
The NSPF uses this course to focus on teaching methodology, visual aids, course administration, and of course adherence to the NSPF high standards. A CPO certification is required to manage pools in many of the areas we service and with in-house instructors we can make sure that our staff can be trained in a timely and efficient manner. The CPO Instructor certification is also an opportunity for professional development that has a high value to the career of the individual and organization.
American Pool President and CEO, Rick Naden, relayed his excitement about expanding our CPO training capacity. “Safety has always been number one for us, and I am truly proud of the team’s accomplishment. More NSPF CPO Instructors in-house allows for more training at every office. This is just one more way to make sure our clients are receiving the best and safest service possible.“
With eight new instructors recently certified, our organization now has twelve NSPF CPO Instructors on our team. We are looking forward to training more pool professionals than ever before in 2018.
